Steve Hislop was one of Britain's most successful bike riders, winning 11 Isle of Man TT races, the British 250cc championship and the British Superbike title in 1995 and 2002. 

Always controversial, and never one to hold back his opinions, he was involved in numerous bust-ups with teams and teammates that led to him being sacked more than once. But his uncompromising nature, compounded by a series of horrendous crashes, would repeatedly ruin his championship aspirations.

These events, however, paled into insignificance in July 2003 when Steve was killed when the helicopter he was piloting crashed in a remote Scottish Border region.
